the Author

Lynn Givens, M.Ed., has been a teacher of struggling readers for over 40 years. She has been a teacher trainer, curriculum developer, instructor in higher education, and professional development expert.

 

Lynn served as the Director of Intervention at the Florida Center for Reading Research in Tallahassee, where she worked with Dr. Joseph Torgesen to develop and implement intervention programs for struggling readers throughout Florida. As a professor at Florida State University's School of Teacher Education in Panama City, Lynn taught all foundational reading courses for pre-teachers.

Lynn is also the author of Phonics Games for Fluency and Developing Essential Grammar Skills, a structural approach to the English language to improve writing skills.

Lynn has served as an online course developer and facilitator for the Orton Gillingham Online Academy.

 

Connect to Comprehension was developed in 2009 as a response from Florida school districts that needed a more intensive approach to help struggling readers.
